Shayne Williams of NJ Nets Drug Charges

The New Jersey Nets waived Shayne Williams and later that day he was indicted on drug charges by a grand jury in his home state of Tennessee.  Williams turned himself in and was indicted on 4 counts of possession of and intent to sell a controlled substance, and 4 on conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.  Nets GM Kiki Vandeweghe states that Williams was waived because he was out of shape and not what the team needed.  Vandeweghe also stated that Williams claimed he needed to return home because of a medical emergency with his grandfather.
